Energy

The Energy sector is helping to drive growth in the Liverpool City Region and in the Wirral. The Wirral has the infrastructure, skills and space to support growth in the Energy sector, whether that’s offshore wind, civil nuclear, tidal or waste-to-energy.

Making The Most Of Local Energy Initiatives

Located on the West Coast of the UK, the Wirral has easy access to the water, wind turbines in the Irish Sea, and the proposed tidal energy scheme in the River Mersey. Dong Energy house their new operations and maintenance facility here on the Wirral on the banks of the River Mersey, serving the wind farm at Burbo Bank.

We are also seeking to create jobs and training within the civil nuclear sector by supporting those major new build projects at Wylfa Newydd, Hinkley Point and Moorside.  Each are multi-billion pound projects and each needs off-site manufacturing with accessibility to the water. The Wirral can provide that service.

It is our goal to provide the opportunities for businesses in the area to help these huge capital projects to everyone’s benefit.
